antique DEP GERMANY or FRANCE bisque head KID BODY

description
GERMAN or FRENCH BISQUE HEAD DOLL This antique doll has a bisque head on a firmly stuffed kid leather body with rivet jointed legs and bisque lower arms. Blue glass sleep eyes with natural hair lashes, open mouth with four teeth. Multi stroke eyebrows and lashes (upper and lower) are skillfully painted. Cheeks have a soft blush. Doll has pale blond hair wig firmly glued to her pate. Doll wears a cream colored lightweight cotton vintage dress with a lace trimmed slip and bloomers. A gold toned metal bow shaped pin at her neckline is sweet but not old. Doll wears vintage straw hat with blue fabric flower accents and vintage oil cloth shoes. Bisque head has an incised mark at the base of her head "Dep. 154.6 1/2.". Defeo and Stover's book, "Doll Values, Antique to Modern" describes the Dep mark as German "Deponirt" or French "Depose" and means registered claim. Please examine photos for condition. Doll's kid body has some light scuffs but no repairs. No chips, cracks or repairs on bisque head. All fingers intact. Hair needs styling. This doll is approximately 18" tall.
