Nice! ANTIQUE CHILD Doll 17", J.D. KESTNER Mold #148 Includes nice antique outfit and new mohair wig! This is a wonderful antique child doll made by J.D. Kestner in the early 1900's. Her head is finely painted bisque, NO CRACKS and NO HAIRLINES. The previous mommy decided to convert the eyes so that they don't sleep--and at the same time FIRMLY glued down the wig so that the pate does not come off. As you can see in the pictures--her original wig is a bit sparse, so I put a nice mohair wig right over the top--it is an identical match to the hair color, and I think it makes her look wonderful---the wig is included in this auction. Her body is kidskin, and has a very small repair on the inside elbow. Her bisque hands appear to be original--but t is a boo-boo on the one thumb that I have shown in the pictures. Now the good stuff---she is a seldom found mold number according to Patricia Smith's book on antique dolls. Her white antique skirt is lovely--in particular the lace is exquisite. The top is nicely done tatting work, although fragile and missing buttons on the back. She has a camisole underneath, and then t are the wonderful antique brown stockings with colored bands. SHE IS JUST WONDERFUL! Her size is very nice too at 17"--not a small doll. I have purchased the super size option for the pictures, so be sure to look at her and read more
