This sale is for an Antique Dome Top Trunk. It's in very good condition, considering its age, 139 years old. It was made in 1868, by Schmit Bros. Trunk Co. ( Limited ) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Also on the label under the lid is the following statement and info; The Most Stylish, Convenient and Best Made Trunks in the Market, and being Equipped with the MICHELSON ( Patent Revolving ) TRUNK ROLLER, Thus Giving Them Additional Advantages Over All Other Trunks. Unlike so many other similar trunks on the market, this one has the lift out tray with divided compartments, which have leather and fiber hinged lids in good working order. The trunk and the tray insert are made of decorative paper lined, rough ceder inner with a metal outer skin. The outside is in very good condition. T are of course some scuffs and scratches, which is to be expected of a 139 year old trunk. The corners are capped from top to bottom with thicker black metal. It has 2" inch wide strips of dark hardwood that are in excellent condition. These strips are all capped at each end, with decorative metal caps. The wood strips are on the lid and on all four sides. T are handles on each end, but the leather straps are broken due to many decades of use. The pictures pretty well show the condition.
