Penn Antique Restoration Antique R&E Bronze Door Set Knobs Escutcheons Lock Key Exquisite, original passage set made by “Russell & Erwin Mfg. Co.” of New Britain, CT circa 1897. The set includes 2 bronze knobs, 2 bronze escutcheons, 1 iron mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 working key, 1 bronze strike plate for the door jamb, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. All bronze parts are solid, heavy, cast bronze—not stamped or bronze plated iron. The bronze parts have a lovely Aesthetic (or Eastlake) style pattern featuring clovers, vines, leaves, and geometric shapes. The set was salvaged from Southwestern Illinois. At the point of salvage, the knobs were dirty and tarnished, and the rest of the parts were dirty, painted, and tarnished. Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts. The knobs, escutcheons, and lock have tiny nicks and scratches here and there; the strike plate openings have been widened, and the plate itself has some dents. Overall, the set is in great condition, free of breaks, cracks, chips, etc. The lock is fully functional and operates smoothly. We made a key for the lock and could make additional keys for $6/key --email us after the auction if you are interested.
