Exquisite antique Replogle 12" Terrestrial Globe dating from between 1930 and 1935. The name Istanbul is present which changed from Constantinople in 1930 and the name Persia is still present. It became Iran in 1935. This fabulous old globe is mounted on an elegant mahogany or cherry wood pedestal base a Duncan Phyfe design. Beautifully lathe turned stem with 4 wonderfully splayed reeded legs. Each leg is capped with a highly detailed solid brass hairy paw foot. Entire globe on stand measures approximately 35" tall. Actual globe is surrounded with a substantial brass or bronze full meridian which perfectly slips into its reeded fitted mahogany crescent shaped holder. This great old globe is in excellent antique condition. A few minor rubs from use on the globe and the base has a tiny wood chip which did not show up in my pictures. Mahogany has developed a rich, warm patina from age as has the brass hairy paw feet and the large heavy meridian. No cracks, losses or repairs. Globe is completely readable with vivid colors and a glossy surface. This globe is too large for me to ship myself, but I will help buyer with shipping and professional wrapping through UPS which will probably cost about $100 depending on distance from NJ. Globe can also be picked up in person at my home in East Brunswick, NJ, a few minutes off Exit 9 of the NJ read more
