Antique Eglomise Casket Style Tracadero Palace, Paris Souvenir Trinket Box #7 This antique Ormolu (gilded brass) thick casket style souvenir trinket box has a very thick beveled glass eglomise top that brightly depicts the entrance to old Tracadero Palace. The eglomise painting states "Paris" and may show th e entrance to the 1900 “Exposition Universelle” World’s Fair held in Paris, France from April 15 to November 12, 1900 to celebrate the achievement of the past century and to accelerate development into the next. Antique original, the sides of the box are in ornamental ormolu (gilt brass). The box stands squarely on four upturned feet. The clasp tilts to the left but snaps crisply shut. The interior is loosely lined in thick faded red fabric paper. The box is a little larger than others I have seen, measuring 2 1/2" wide by 3 1/2" long by 2 1/2 " tall. This special souvenir trinket box will be a welcomed gift for the "Grand Tour" or "World's Fair" collector. The piece is in original pre-owned condition with age related wear and marks.
