Antique Enamel Guilloche Hand Painted Miniature Portrait Box Signed (Amazing) Search This box is without a doubt, one of the best I've seen. It is fully enameled, top, sides and bottom. The hand painted floral garlands are raised like repousse and they are perfect. The pearl white enamel guilloche background is breathtaking bringing out all the beautiful colors. The portrait of a beautiful Renaisance lady with trees and lake background is stunning. I am not sure if the signature is Carlo or Carlos. My guess is it is probably Carlo which could be French, Italian or Austrian which is where this box was most likely made. As you can see in the photos, there is wear around the bottom edge including a chip though none of this I believe disturbs the piece. It is in very good overall condition. The metal appears to be silvered bronze. There are no hallmarks and I did test for silver content and it is definately not silver. The box measures 3 1/8" and 1 3/4" high.
