Antique ENGLISH ANCHOR LAMP, Brass Ship Lantern's a large English antique anchor lamp. It's handmade by experienced craftsmen of the finest quality brass available and hand lacquered to retain its beautiful finish and requires no polishing. It's very heavy with solid brass and very thick glass in excellent condition. It may be used as a table lamp or swag. The lamp assembly is by Sherwoods Ltd., Birmingham, England, and the burner section is a "British Starhinge Burner". A removable oil reservoir can be used with kerosene or oil. I use odorless kerosene. Wire insertion is on the bottom.
The Anchor Light was the authentic ship's navigational light used on seagoing vessels. British admiralty ships, while at anchor signaled their position by lighting an Anchor Lantern. Whether used as a functioning lantern for home, patio, boat, or simply in a decorative capacity for a nautical atmosp, this beautiful anchor light will be a reminder of the past and a joy in the years to come.
Measures 17" high and 10" wide. In like new condition.
I am currently auctioning 24 other rare vintage nautical treasures, mostly lamps that are a part of my recently deceased husband's collection of pieces acquired at least 35-40 years ago; must let them go to help pay for his medical expenses.
