ANTIQUE ENGLISH GILT SEPIA MOURNING LOCKET BROOCH c1780 A terrific antique English, gilt metal mourning brooch; with its original glass over a hand painted sepia mourning image with reverse-painted gilt surround, depicting a mourning maiden, her head in her hands, leaning on an urn. A wonderfully collectable Georgian mourning brooch - wearable too! CONDITION : All original and very good. Slight signs of wear commensurate with age and use. C clip a replacement. DEFECTS : None. DATE/MARKS : Around 1780/90. Not marked. DIMENSIONS : 29 x 16 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or � of an inch diameter.
