A superb pastoral landscape - stream and paddock in placid setting. Antique painting, oil on board, signed lower right, W.K. Towel, dates c. 1900. Label on back of painting reads: An Arun Brook W.K.Towell Cedar Cottage Wadleys Lane Walberton, Arundel I do not know if this was the address of the artist - it was on the painting when I purchased it about 1960. Size (Image) 15" X 19" Size (Frame, newer) 21" X 25", Ornate excellent condition Title: An Arun Brook Condition, Excellent. Date: c. 1900 - 1940's Colors are bright and vivid and have not faded with age. Painting is in very good condition - no chipping or cracking - very stable. The artist is listed in BBC and does have other paintings in permanent galleries in England. Picture # 6 above by this same artist is in the National Art Collection, Chichester Library, Tower Street, Chichester, West Sussex. Artist painted rural country settings in the 1900s. Artist recognized as a notable English painter of the 20th Century. Many paintings are throughout England. This painting was purchased in the 1960s from "The Perfect Touch" an importer of English oil paintings in Chicago, Illinois. It has been in our home ever since. Lovely painting and a classic restful scene pleasing to any decor - plus a great investment in art.
