Direct from England, this listing is for a great antique bamboo "treasure" I'll call itâe¦âe¦âe¦it's constructed like a purse, but I'm thinking it might have been a purse style way to carry sewing items? Either way, it's simply fabulous and the only one I've seen OR been able to find anyw on the internet!! The construction is definitely quality, with a wood bottom and sides, a gracefully arched bamboo handle, nice clasp and original metal caps still on three of the six crossed/side posts. The design appears to be hand painted, with additional painted accents on the back and sidesâe¦âe¦this is definitely NOT a cheap reproduction!! When the clasp is opened, either one or both sides can be dropped open. The cloth interior holds the sides in their open position. Actually t's probably a little pivot inside for the front and the back, but the one on the back is missingâe¦.not a problem because the lining keeps everything in place. The lining is obviously the original, with definite signs of age and wear. I really didn't clean this jewel to a great extent because I didn't want to damage anything or harm anything of
