Antique Victorian Pitcher, English, Dolphin and Seashell Decoration, Pewter Lid. c.1870 A most attractive pewter-lidded English pitcher. � The main design is a pair of dolphins with entwined tails, holding up a large pinky-maroon seashell; the design is repeated on both sides of the jug. � Around the rim, above a relief line, the design depicts a branch with flowers twined around. � The handle has the same rim design but this time in a rich golden ochre colour, typical of the period.The polychrome design on this jug is really lovely and most unusual. � With elegant design and charming, colourful and happy decoration this lovely pitcher from Victorian England is a wonderful decorative piece, and a great addition to any collection of antique and classic English pottery. Marks: The jug is unmarked. Condition: The jug is in remarkably excellent condition with light crazing to the glaze consistent with age. � No chips or cracks.
