Antique English Walnut Expanding Book Slide - Mounted c.1860 A stunning example of an expanding book rack or holder, known as a book slide and dating to around 1860 - 1880, Victorian in era.The Walnut is enhanced with decorative metal mounts to either end - which I have not polished (personal taste). The opening for books measures 12 3/4" expanding to 20 1/2" wh en fully opened. Excellent condition with a patina and marks commensurate with the age, the underside retaining its original covering. I am starting the bidding quite low - I have seen similar book slides for over £250! Finally, due to the weight - over 1Kg - the item has to be sent First Class through the Royal Ma il s ystem.
