rare, rare, rare, can something over 100 years old be considered like new in original condition?!!! I present you with an item that may prove that to be true..... a pat'd. feb. 26. 1895 Fairbanks scale .the fairbanks company (which formed in 1824 as the E&T Fairbanks co.) is still producing scales as i have discovered from some internet research.This fine old scale still functions as it should (with weight/counter balance adjustment) and appears to be in excellent condition with minor wear and tThaddeus Fairbanks and his brother Erastus were the geniuses behind these scales and other products . the fairbanks company produced some other items but it was Thaddeus that understood the value of a good scale and later designed a scale that the load would not need to be lifted on but rather the scale was built into the ground and required much less weight to counter balance it.this scale i have offered up for auction is truly a piece of history.it will be hard to find a fairbanks of this age in this condition ever again, and it is very fun to weigh your items up to 16 ounces as well ! please look at all the pictures.a very special scale!!!
