ANTIQUE FINE SILVER PLATED CLAM SHELL W. & S. BLACKINTON Pattern Clam shell on two ball feet Size Length âe" 6" inches Width âe" 4" inches Height âe" 1.25" inches Hallmarked W. & S. BLACKINTON FINE SILVER PLATE SINCE 1865 9 DESCRIPTION : Up for auction is a beautiful 2 footed fine silver clam shell ashtray that was one of my wedding presents in 1957 . Itâe(tm)s beautifully detailed with textured rings on both sides of the shell and is hallmarked on the base W&S Blackinton Silver Plate Since 1865 along with the number 9 underneath the date. This could easily pass for a small candy dish / bowl. T is no oxidation, no scratches, no dents, no dings, no damage âe¦âe¦âe¦ I received this fine silver clam shell ashtray as a wedding present back in 1957 and it has been stored away since 1959. This clam ashtray was used for only 2 years because I quit smoking in 1959. After that I put it aside in a box for the next 48 years, so it is up for auction today. We carefully cleaned off the grime and tarnish, and you can see in the pics the silver plating has run thin in places (most likely from the cigarettes)âe¦.but well over 85% of the silver plating is t (t is some beautiful gold color under the silver plate).
