is a beautiful old Flow-Blue plate featuring the Blenham Spaniel, as marked on the back in large blue Old-English letters. Other markings on back include: six pointed blue star, blue #8, embossed - 8 and british pound sign, and T.C. Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co. Plate measures 9.25" diameter. Artist signature: G. Febarsem (?). Most other flow blue potteries from this manufacturer are transfer ware. This one is unique and has been hand-painted and signed by the artist. Also this mark appears to be older then some of the others I've seen, with no Crown or Shield. Produced by BWM & Co. in Hanley, Cauldon Place , sometime between 1862 - 1904. HANLEY was large modern town and chapelry, in the parish of Stoke. Hanley, the most populous town in North Staffordshire, is generally described as the capital of the Potteries . After 1904 BWM & Co., was renamed to Cauldon Ltd. For this plate being over 100 years old it is in very good condition. T are some knife marks from use and two chips on back (see photo) each ½" long.
