On my buying trips to the Normandy region of France, I kept a close eye out for these wonderful French award medallions...awarded for excellence most often in livestock. Like so many things french, the details are so charming! This award is for BOARS. It hails from Isigny-sur-Mer, a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France. It is not dated but I approximate it to be 1950's or 60's. This medallion is unusual in that it bears the makers name and address, Taupinard, Paris. I found their website in a google search. This award is green with gold highlights. It does show wear and oxidation as clearly pictured. I find the patina and condition, charmingly time worn. Measures 10 inches across and 7 inches tall. I am downsizing my personal collection.
