Antique French Art Nouveau SterlingSilver Thimble, ca. 1900 DESCRIPTION LARGER IMAGE SEE ADDITIONAL PICTURES BELOW Antique French Art Nouveau (Belle �poque) silver thimble with plain knurled top over an applied border decorated with garlands of flowers, ribbons and scrolls. Vacant cartouche. Made ca 1900. Hallmarked with the boar's head (t�te de sanglier) silver guarantee mark - used by the Paris Assay Office from 1838 to indicate a fineness of 800 or higher on small silver articles. There is also a faint maker's mark. Below and to the right of the cartouche the thimble is also marked Ag 925 which is very probably an import mark. Some needle scratches but otherwise in excellent condition - in round with no holes, dents, damage or repairs. Height approx. 2.4 cm; internal base diameter approx. 1.6 cm; weight 6.3 grams.
