Exceptional length of French Jacobean Indienne Floral cotton that arrived this week. What a stunning period cloth. These have become very hard to come by. Gorgeous warm, old world hues of red, olive & eggplant on a mid gray blue ground. This is a mid weight cotton with a very pliable body in a somewhat larger mid scale. It was very overcast all week so I did my best to capture it's palette, this was as close as my camera could capture. This piece has a very old French look and appeal and would make amazing period pillows and light upholstery for antique footstools & side chairs etc.. It has a rustic old French feel and time softened more rustic aged patina lending itself perfectly to period projects. The interesting thing is on the back side, which is printed just like the front, it is more true to it's original colors which were more vivid and the ground is more of a blue/gray (please refer to last 3 photos). So could really be used on either side. I see this type of printing a lot on early French textiles. So basically the front was exposed to more elements, the other side more true to it's original palette.Excellent for pillows, holiday stockings and an abundance of vintage projects, table pieces, lamp shades, window elements, period pieces like accent stools etc..
