A superb quality French Limoges enamel plaque hand painted on copper with 'La Vierge aux Raisins' after Pierre Mignard within an Italian style gilded and painted tabernacle frame signed 'd'Apres Mignard' in gilt script to the bottom left This plaque appears to date from the early 20th Century, the reverse of the frame shows some age and has various pencil marks and the remains of a paper backplate. There are also the remains of an old paper label on the reverse of the enamel panel (see photograph) This is a very good quality and well executed panel and is a very faithful version of the original which hangs in the Louvre in Paris, painted by Pierre Mignard in 1640. The frame is a nice copy of a 17th Century Italian tabernacle frame, a type often found on religious paintings, and is a lovely object in its own right. For more information on Pierre Mignard see /wiki/Pierre_Mignard Condition: There is an impact mark towards the top right hand corner, above Christ's left hand, this is on the background and not on the image itself (see photograph). It is barely noticeable face-on and is otherwise in superb condition. The frame is in excellent condition and has its original gilding. Size: Plaque measures 6 3/4" x 4 3/4" (17cm x 12cm), Frame measures 10" x 6 3/4" (25.5cm x 17.5cm) Please note this will be posted from France. Postage read more
