This auction is for a magnificent Antique French Ormolo / Dore Bronze Picture Frame of the highest quality .Images are overexposed and very poor. The frame is tantelizing in person. Measurements are 6 inches in width by 8 inches in overall height, with an opening of 3 3/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches on the front. The opening on back meaaures 4 7/8 inches by 5 7/8 inches, and maximum depth 1 3/8 inches when laying flat on its back. I am pretty sure this frame is at least 150 years old , and it possibly is much older than that , even 18th Century. The ornament on top is fantastic. The workmanship on front is exceptional. The etch work on the back is thrilling. Outstanding Patina. Very Heavy. In excellent Vintage condition. Please see images. Please also note the the perimeter of the back wall has total of 8 pin sizeholes ( 1 on top , 1 on bottom , and 3 on each side) for holding the backing in place with pins. Workmanship of this quality is extremely rare. The most beautiful of all the Dore / Ormolo French Gilt Bronze frames that I have seen. Absolutely heart warming. A frame of this quality, size , and vintage , easily is priced for $1500 in a Gallery or a reputable antique shop. Need I say more? Bid now !
