AntiqueSilver Gilt Mistletoe Embroidery Scissors French * Circa 1890 These pretty little silver handled sewing scissors are gilded with real gold and embossed on both sides with flowing Art Nouveau mistletoe designs. They are stamped with the French boar's head silver hallmark used on 800/1000 pure silver made in Paris beginning in 1838. The steel blades are still shiny with the original sharp points and they cut but could use sharpening. The condition of the silver is excellent with no dents or damage and they measure not quite 3 1/2" long. A set of French silver tools with this pattern are shown on p. 136 of Antique Needlework Tools and Embroideries by Nerylla Taunton.
