Antique French stoneware mixing bowl Curators, dealers & collectors - please see my listings, for a very fine range of 16th to 19th century period lighting & other pieces, all guaranteed, as to age, condition & origin, & soon to significantly increase. Our reference libraries largely focus on early pieces, & don't (yet) cover utilitarian French stoneware bowls. I believe that they began to appear in the 1880's, possibly earlier, and were produced into the 20th century. They're not easy to find in good shape - they saw frequent, perhaps daily use, and are usually chipped, stained, or cracked. This excellent, medium-sized bowl has the number 12 impressed on the bottom. The different rim & interior glazes, with the unglazed exterior, make for very pleasing colour & texture combinations. Please ask, if you wish additional photos. Condition is exceptional - there are no cracks or chips - there is the usual minor glaze crazing to the interior.
