Antique French stoneware mixing bowl Curators, dealers & collectors - please see my listings, for a very fine range of 16th to 19th century period lighting & other pieces, all guaranteed, as to age, condition & origin, & soon to significantly increase. Please register my page among your "favorites", if you wish to be assured of being able to "see" future pieces. Our reference libraries largely focus on early pieces, & don't (yet) cover utilitarian French stoneware bowls. I believe that they began to appear in the 1880's, possibly earlier, and were produced into the 20th century. They're not easy to find in good shape - they saw frequent, perhaps daily use, and are usually chipped, stained, or cracked. This excellent, medium-sized bowl has the number 12 impressed on the bottom. The different rim & interior glazes, with the unglazed exterior, make for very pleasing colour & texture combinations. Please ask, if you wish additional photos. Condition is exceptional - there are no cracks or chips - there is the usual minor glaze crazing to the interior. Otherwise, the bowl clearly displays the individualistic character of antiques stoneware & pottery, in its irregularities. Diameter – 19.5 cm. (7 & 5/8"): height – 9 cm. (3 & 1/2"). Weight
