Uniquely designed drawers. The carved handle on the smaller drawers inside. This beautiful rolltop desk was originally crafted in England around 1920. The wood is solid oak and has developed a very nice, rustic patina. The patina of the wood greatly enhances the look and value of high-quality antiques, as well as helps to prove its age, as it is impossible to replicate an authentic patina on a new piece. The top of this desk pulls open and closed fairly smoothly, and inside contains several small drawers and compartments, including two pen/pencil drawers. The rest of the drawers of this piece feature mortised joints, which are a sign of high-quality craftsmanship. Also, the drawers default to being locked, and they can only be opened by pressing back the roll top. This causes a lever on the inside to release and unlock the drawers.
