I am offering another fascinating estate find - this is a very old pair of cast and pierced silver buckles. The chape, spikes and tongue appear to be hand forged steel. They were stamped with hallmarks or maker marks that are now completely illegible. Comparing them to other antique buckles on the web, they appear to be Georgian Era men's shoe or knee buckles. They test at least 925 sterling and are rather ornate with hand wrought piercing and open work and filigree. In PIC 6 you can see that the steel mechanism is simply pinned, but still working. Total weight = 56 G. Thanks so much for looking and be sure to save us as a seller and check back because we will continue to list some great estate finds over the next weeks.
