FINE ANTIQUE GEORGIAN CROSSBANDED MAHOGANY BREAKFAST TABLE 74.5cm (29 3/8") high x 94.5cm (37 1/4") wide x 66cm (26") deep This beautiful, fine quality early 19th century breakfast table has a well figured solid mahogany rectangular top with ebonised line inlay and crossbanded mahogany veneer to the moulded edge. The top has faded to a gorgeous golden mellow colour. It swivels and tilts to a vertical position when not in use. The flame veneered triangular central column stands on a finely moulded reeded and gadrooned plynth base. The top of the column is rebated into a double block with champhered edges underneath. The top retains it's original brass lock and the lock plate. The lock plate has lost it's two original screws but it is clearly original to the block. There are a few bits of veneer loss to the base and a small piece missing to the corner of the top. The varnish on the column has deteriorated with age. The veneers are 1/8th inch thick in many areas. The original steel casters are intact. One is slightly stiff. The patina is rich and glowing. I THINK THE BASE AND TOP COULD POSSIBLY BE ASSOCIATED.
