Antique German Enameled Glass Beer Stein Jugendstil Wedding Gift Franz Ringer c.191 9 #1 Description: Presented is a beautiful German beer stein made of hand-blown crystal glass around late 1910s. The stein is designed in the so-called "Jugendstil" style - a German version of Art Nouveau that is characterized by simplicity and elegance. The stein is a part of a set of two a lmost identical steins that were made as wedding gifts for the groom and the bride . I am selling them separately because one of them is in excellent condition, another one has small chips on upper rim . The stein is decorated with a bea utiful enameled of two Amours - a boy and a girl - holding a heart with inscripti on : " Von ganze m Herze n" - "From the heart". The inscription on the bottom reads: "Viel GLueck " - "Good luck". The design was created by Franz Ringer - one of the most famous artist whose name is well connected to Jugendstil movement. F.Ringer designed many beautiful stein made by Mettlach, Marzi and Remy, Merkalbach , etc. Please note there are not very many glass steins designed by Ringer. His major works include mostly stoneware and pottery - glass pieces are quite rare. The lid is pewter designed in specific Jugendstil way.
