You are bidding on the most charming lidded beer stein I have ever seen. According to the marks on the bottom it was made by Geschutzt, with the number 980 and 96 on it. I think 1909 is the year of manufacture. I don't know w to begin, but the face molded into the lid is really something. As you turn the stein you see 3 separate sections of one scene. In the main section the miner is chipping away at a rock and above him is "Gluck AuF!" To the right are 2 little gnomes watching the miner and above them "Gluckauf ihr Knappen all". And to the left is a fairy king and above him is "Verkundet is mit lautem Schall". I don't know German, but would love to know what the translation is. Inside the lid are the initials, Rz. The stein measures 6 1/4" uncapped and 9 1/2" capped. Incised on the outside is 1/2L, which I guess means half a liter. Just wonderful!
