Antique German SP Ornate Cottage Scene FIGURAL TEA STRAINER From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this Antique German Silver Plate COTTAGE SCENE FIGURAL TEA STRAINER. This 4" strainer is so ornate that I spent a few minutes searching for an 800 mark but, not having found one, I have to assume that this is silver plate. Decorated around the border with high relief floral (roses, I think) and foliate design, it's the handle of this strainer which really steals the show. Shown in close-up below, the handle has a wonderful pastoral scene showing two thatched-roof buildings in the background, animals grazing in the middle area and a mother sitting on a bench watching her pig-tailed daughter at the end. This is in excellent condition but does have one small bump in the heavy brass bowl as well as some discoloration or wear in the bottom. Please see my other auctions for more great items.
