This listing is for an antique sterling silver thimble made by Goldsmith Stern (USA) dating from 1850-1899. It has a 10 panel base, 5 open for engraving, and 5 panels with bas relief designs. It is marked Sterling on the inside of the thimble, along with the maker's logo of the anchor, which Stern refers to as a fouled anchor. Also, marked on the inside is the large G with a small s and c in the middle, which is the Goldsmith Stern Company mark, and 7 for the size. This thimble was my great-grandmother's, and is in excellent condition for it's age and usage. There are no holes. dents, or damage on this timeless piece. The thimble is 3/4" high and 5/8" in diameter. Some of the antique Goldsmith Stern thimbles, such as this one, were made with gold content as well; but I don't know how to determine if that is the case with this thimble.
