ANTIQUE HAND CARVED WOODEN FURNITURE CREST PEDIMENT An incredible, hand carved, pediment that must have been off of a very ornate sideboard or other ornate piece of furniture! This pediment is carved entirely out of one piece of wood (see photos)! I'm not sure what the wood is but it looks like oak, chestnut, or a similiar hardwood. There are two large dowels, one on each side, to secure this piece to the furnture. It measures approximately 42 1/4" long x about 11 1/2" high (not including the extra 1" of dowel) and the wood is about 1 3/4" thick. It is beautiful and in great condition! The entire pediment is one piece of wood but there was something extra in the middle that is missing (see photo). I have no idea what it was but there was definitely something there. There are no breaks, cracks, or repairs to this piece of wood. There are minor specks of old wall paint, here and there, but nothing very noticeable (and easily removed). I cleaned it a little bit but it could still use a good going over! A very beautiful work of art! Being offered as is and with No Reserve! High bidder to pay all shipping costs.
