What an unusual find! This wonderful antique item is handcrafted from two tiger cowrie shells and trimmed in brass and brass-colored metal. It is oval and about 2-1/2" long. Egg-shaped, it does not sit flat, but rocks on its shell bottom. The clasp and hinge appear to be brass, but the rim may be a different metal. The clasp does not fasten tightly as the hinge wiggles just a bit from side to side. The metal trim shows some tarnishing. The shell is in excellent condition with a naturally smooth glossy finish.
