EXTREMELY RARE ART NOUVEAU HAT PIN WITH REAL SCARAB FROM FRANCE circa 1890~~ pin 12 1/2" long. Oval setting for scarab 2" long and 2" wide. Real Egyptian scarab, vivid green with tiny part of head missing-- enlarge photo to see. Oval brass setting with very long pin for the large, dramatic hats worn at the time. The scarab was thought to help the sun rise. A very fashionable symbol in Art Nouveau motifs
