A New Haven shelf or mantel clock ca.1880's, in beautiful condition. The bezel of the clock is stamped, Patd. Feb.11, 1879. The case looks to be made of oak . The front glass has a nice reverse painted gold vine, with what almost looks like small shamrocks. The original label is on the rear of the clock reads, 1 day Tigris, Striking, New Haven Clock Co., New Haven, Conn. There is some minor paint loss to the face, and glass. The clock has its pundulum and a key. It has been running for the past six hours, keeping time well, and striking the hours. The clock measures 22 inches tall, 14 inches wide, and 4 3/4 inches deep. A great example of a New Haven Victorian clock. Although the clock is running very well, with antique clocks a trip to your local clock maker is always recommended for a quick check up.
