This is a very beautiful heavy antique watch chain and can be worn as necklace choker. Made of heavy rose yellow gold filled and will test heavy in gold filled. Has beautiful etched workmanship floral design on links. These detailed chain links were found on both Victorian era and Edwardian era watch chains and were for men (today, men may not prefer the floral designs but they were very favourable back then and used for large lockets and watches). Inside clasp, has maker's mark appears as: "R R & CO". The "&" mark is a a fancy script. Other possible marks are too faded to read. The older gold filled had other good quality alloys (metals) such as silver and copper. In fact, even 1 oz of the lowest gold filled standard accepted by FCC has more value than 1 oz of silver. It's very heavy. Weighs: 49.1 grams. Necklace is choker lenght. Measures alittle over 15 1/2 inches long. Chain width is 1/3 inch (9.5 m). Has same beautiful floral design on both sides. It's a very impressive looking piece. Would make a superb gift for lady or man. It came from our Victorian era/Edwardian era jewelry collection. Or, own it yourself and invest in this highly collectible watch chain choker and appreciate the compliments you'll get as it's antiquity value continues to increase even more so over time.
