ANTIQUE HENRY TROEMER "NEW" BALL SCALE - NO.50 RARE FIND! Up for auction is this unusual Henry T roemner's "New" ball scale - No. 50. From the research I conducted, it appears that this scale was manufactured by the T roemner Co. of Philadelphia in the early 1900's. As with all of the "ball" scales, spherical weights are placed in holes in the beam, designating whole pound amounts while smaller amounts are determined by a moveable poise on a side beam. A third track on the beam has a moveable weight to compensate for a container and thus making it possible to determine the net weight. This scale has 6 holes in the main beam. The cast iron base of the scale is porcelain covered and the 10" plate is white porcelain. Overall, this scale is in remarkably good condition; however, there is one ball missing. The wires that attached the measuring stick and smaller hanging weight were broken so I secured these parts with wire for shipping. This scale is very heavy @ 16 pounds and it measures 21" long to the end of the white plate. I included pages from Troemner's 1926 catalog. Check out my other items !
