Incredible Antique Point De Venise Lace Tablecloth with a Chinoiserie theme. Beautiful cream colored cotton lace. Completely handmade. No fabric: all lace with so many different stitches and effects. The handwork is frankly mind-boggling. This surely took months and months of work. Notice the pagodas, potted plants, insects, flowers and foliage that give this a Chinese garden theme. This is combined with classic Italian Renaissance forms for a very unusual Venetian lace tablecloth that reflects Venice's place as the origin of Marco Polo's travels to China. Measures 100 inches by 67 inches and in excellent condition. Probably from the 1920s. Shipping includes a handling cost to cover postal insurance.
