Antique Jacobus Stainer in Absam Prope Oenipontum 1732 4/4 Violin, Case and Bow Bow is unmarked, measures 29" long and has lots of wear. There are scratches and scuffs and it needs a rehair. The wood around above the frog is splintered and eroded. The screw appears to be rusted and stripped. The violin is used with scratches, scuffs and nicks. The upper portion of the scroll has come off of the violin and is loose in the case. There is a separate crack in the side of the scroll as well. There are no discernible cracks in the violin and no separation at the edges. The fingerboard has lots of wear. The bridge and tailpiece have some wear but are intact. The tuning pegs are in good shape. There is a sound post in place (it appears to be somewhat large). The length of the violin is approx 23.5" and the body is about 14". The wooden case has lots of wear and a large crack in it. It should likely be replaced.Please see photos for additional detail and feel free to ask questions.
