Antique etching folio print on paper dating to circa 1847. Condition is good for the age with a crease in upper blank margins. Print was laid in to another piece of paper which is as published by publishers. If you hold this up to the light, you will see 4 tiny pin dots on each corner, from the printer aligning the print to be put in. Center paper with image is hand made cotton paper. One edge shows evidence of once being bound. Printing process is copper plate stipple engraving. Blank margins are approximately as shown and print is full plate. Print is from an old incomplete art book. Overall size is approximately 5.75 inches by 8. 5/8 inches with image size being approximately 3.75 inches by 4.25 inches. Image size was measured on the portrait only. Print has number written in back in pencil 6-20, which is as I received print. Blank on the back. Print reads "James, Earl of Derwentwater. Engraved by S. Freeman from a painting by Sir. G. Kneller." Please write any questions prior to bidding. .
