ITEM: This is the 2nd set (2 cups & 2 Lids) of great antique Japanese chawanmushi lidded cups we have to offer today. The condition of both are excellent, no damage. These will display great in a home or business. You can use them for flower pots too. You can also use them for making wonderful chawanmushi. They measure approx. 3.75 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches tall. Winning bidders gets both of them. We also have another set too, in case you need 4 of them. The kanji on them reads "seifu" (clean air, but the true meaning I think is not that simple). These are going to date from early to mid Showa era. They come from the kura (storehouse) of an old samurai family named Kusaka that are located in Miyagi Prefecture. We are in the process of liquidating their storehouses (they have 2) which many items date from the time the family were still samurai to WWII, when the head of the household served in the Imperial Japanese Army as a Military Police officer (kempeitai). It's safe to say most items we are listing date from Edo era to WWII. All items I list are guaranteed 100% to be as stated. This is a rare chance to own items from an old samurai family (that come from the family directly). Please see our other auctions.
