Please see more photos below: A lovely quality antique Japanese or Chinese ( probably Japanese, Meiji period) faux ivory pill or snuff box standing 0.95 in ( 24 mm) high with a maximum diameter of 1.4 in ( 35 mm). It has been very skilfully hand carved and incised with a very detailed and realistic image of the head of a Lionness to the lid. The base retains its original Makers or Retailers label. There is a colour variation between the lid and base but both appear to be original and fit perfectly i.e. closely and securely. It is in very good condition with no damage and would make a great addition, to anyones collection, display etc..
