Issued By The Commonwealth Of The Philippines & United States Government. Has Own Serial Number ! Very Rare And Hard To Come By Since Most Were Traded In Or Destroyed By The Philippine & U.S. Government After The Defeat Of The Japanese At The End Of WWII. During World War Two, the Japanese took over the Philippine Islands (starting the day after the Pearl Harbor attack). Beginning with the capture of the Philippines, the Japanese military confiscated all hard currency, both on a federal and individual level, replacing it with locally printed notes bearing a proclamation of military issue. This currency up for auction was emergency currency made by the Philippine & U.S. Government when this event took place to protect the value of the original Philippine currency for citizen to be traded for full value if and when the Japanese invasion government left the territory. Anyone caught using this currency could face jail time and or be put to death depending how much value they were carrying or trading determined by the Japanese government at their discretion at the time of arrest.
