This auction is for a very fine & rare antique early kerosene brass lamp. The lamp measures 15 1/4" to the top of the shade. This rare complete oil lamp dates to the earliest point in kerosene lighting. The Jones burner has a patent date of January 11, 1859. Boston. It is fashioned with a 2 3/4" shade holder. The lamp itself has a single step marble base. The brass foot has a dogwood blossom design and fluted columnar stem. The font is a barrel shaped glass with heavy facets and a band of garland around the waist. The brass foliage like prism ring hangs 9 arrow head prisms. The wheel cut shade is fire polished on the base and is free of any chips or cracks. The flanged chimney is a replacement for the one that was broken. The lamp is in excellent condition and a very rare complete lamp. **Note** the last picture shows the lamp lit. The lamp is not drilled or wired for electricity. The lamp is intact and will burn oil beautifully as shown in the picture. The shipping calculator on ebay does not work. I do not recommend using it. Generally it gives an amount double of what the actual shipping would be.
