This is a true auction, t is no reserve! You're bidding on an old lamp being sold as-is. T is a jagged edge around the glass base of the shade (see photo) the brass is tarnished and the black base has some paint chipping off. The damage on the shade is not noticeable because the jagged part sits down into the metal bracket that holds the hurricane shade. This lamp is from the JurgenEstate. Many of the items from the estate were passed down from MargretBrown Brady from Berlin, Connecticut. Margret was alive in the late 1800's early 1900's and she loved beautiful pieces of glass and ceramics. I'll be listing many of Margret's things and will be very happy to combine shipping and handling for your multiple purchases. I don't know the actual age of this lamp. At some point the lamp was electrified. Originally it was fueled by kerosene or oil. Part of the old oil lamp still remains (see photos.) The metal base of the lamp is approx. 3 1/2 inches tall. The shade is approx. 4 1/2 inches in diameter at the top and 4 inches at the bottom. I plugged the lamp in and it works. T is an etched design on the glass that is just gorgeous! It's a scene with cupids or fairies in a fern garden with snails, butterflies, dragonflies and flowers. This lamp has an black square base that is made of some sort of metal that a magnet sticks to.
