GREETINGS! Offered for your collecting pleasure is a large size antique composition doll's head. It measures 6" high, 12" in circumference and the neck socket measures 6" around. All original with no repair or retouch, the paint is still vibrant with very expressive feathered brows and rosy cheeks. The gray blue painted tin weighted sleep eyes have brush lashes (sparse over the left one) and her tin teeth and attached pate and light brown soft mohair wig remain. Beautifully painted and molded to look just like a bisque head, the compo and paint are of excellent quality, her wig needs restyling. She has paint flakes on her neck socket, a crack and lifting behind her right ear (along seam line) and a crack and chip behind her left ear (along seam line). Marked on the back BESTER DOLL CO (additional lettering beneath which is undiscernable). She was made ca 1918 by the Bester Doll Co. of Blumfield, NJ that produced these high quality composition dolly face dolls for a very brief period of time between 1918 and 1922. When mounted on an appropriate composition ball jointed body, it would be a large 24" doll.
