ANTIQUE "THE LAST TRAIL" INDIAN BOOKENDS Awesome Original Paint. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Title: End of Trail Indian on Horse Cast Iron BookendsDate: Circa 1920's.Dimensions: 7 1/8" tall x 5" wide x 2 1/8" deep.Provenance/Additional Information: An Antique pair of End of Trail Cast Iron Bookends. These bookends were likely inspired by the famous statue "End of Trail" done by James Earle Fraser. These bookends, depicting an American Indian, robed in buffalo skin with head bowed are a commentary on the damage Euro-American settlement inflicted upon Native Americans. These bookends are three-dimensional - the Horse & Indian, Mountains, Cliff and Grasses portrayed on a lovely background. Solid casting. These bookends seldom come available & almost never in paint, much less original paint. Great decorative items also, if not used as bookends.
