What a find! From a local estate, this antique gunpowder tin was produced sometime between 1836 - 1915 at the Hazard Powder Company in Enfield, CT. The tin stands approximately 5" tall and 4 3/8" wide with the Hazard Powder Co. label on the front. The label depicts a hunter, rifle in the aim position, with a hunting dog, and a deceased deer at his feet. The tin is in fair to good condition for its age, with tears and wear noted on the label. The tin itself is black with scattered paint loss and is missing the screw cap. Although not perfect, the piece is still a wonderful piece of history by itself or through the interesting story of the Hazard Powder Company of Enfield, CT.
