GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS This box is truly to die for..yummy beyond words. I acquired it yesterday and couln't wait to put it up for auction. I am unsure of its original use, whether is was a dresser box, trinkets, or candy...It doesn't need anything inside to show off its regal beauty. In my opinion, this is in Good vintage condition. No visible repairs. No missing pieces. Some ormolu wear, which is to be expected for a well loved treasure. Each side has a different scene, pictures provided., The top has a little movement when you put it on,, but if you turn it a certain way it will not wiggle. Their are no chips off the top rim, I feel one small fleabite, when I run my finger around it with my eyes shut. On the top, next to a putti figure, one of the birds has risen off the base. On the sides the scenes are not soldered or glued on to the glass, so they need a little coaxing to move back tightly to the glass. The lower right foot has some darkening, visible in the picture provided. The details on this treasure are beyond belief, even at each corner their is a tiny rams head. I am unable to locate a makers mark...so should you know, I will happily give free shipping to the first one who shares:) I have not touched this, their is the remains of some type of polish on the eagle, but I will leave that for the new owner to do with as they please.
