You are bidding on a lot of two antique boxes - a Victorian or Edwardian leather collar box in as-is condition, and an old (age unknown) very Arts and Crafts in feel Crawford's English biscuit tin with a fabulous graphic on the lid. The tin is octagonal in shape and has a hinged lid. The graphics are quite spectacular - that little central image looks exactly like a painting and frankly, I'm not sure exactly what technique was used to create it. The whole box could use a cleaning and probably a waxing (I find a thin coat of beeswax helps to bring back even tin to it's former lustre). T are a lot of design elements throughout on both the black and the rust red areas in fine thin lines of gold that are lost because of the dirt coating the surface. Notice the nifty faux escutcheon at the front! Of course, scratching to the paint and some rust on the inside as to be expected on an early piece. Measures about 8.25" in diameter. The leather collar box is missing its strap, shows soiling throughout, some minor losses and some of the threads on the lid have broken so that top of lid and sides need reattaching on about half the box. On the plus side the patina is fantastic - very dark and very warm and it actually displays beautifully as a great primitive piece. Measures 7.5" in diameter by 3.5" high.
