Up for bids is a Beautiful Antique Black Forest Pottery Birds & Berries Platter. There is wonderfully painted birds sitting on branches eating the purple berries/grapes that are hanging from the vines. There are lots of fall colored leaves attached to the branches. The branches are also the handles of the platter. There is also a nicely molded decorative edge around the whole piece. It is marked : Black Forest Art Pottery Erphila, Germany 230 1 There are a few condition issues that I want to make you aware of. I have shown in the last picture that there is glaze missing on some of the highest points of the inside of the platter. Mostly on the grapes but a couple smaller spots on a bird and some branches. There is also numerous spots of glaze wear around the outside edge and on the handles. This is a very old piece that obviously has been used. I displayed it in my china cabinet and unless you pick it up to examine it, you do not notice any of the glaze missing as they are small amounts and as you can see in the pictures, it is still a bright and beautifully painted piece that will look great as a decorative antique. The platter measures 12 1/4" long and 7 1/2" wide. There have been a few for sale on ebay for $200-$400.
